Makani Coffee Beans
Makani = Breeze | Wind
About Makani | Breeze / Wind
Ahhhh that off-shore breeze. It’s fresh, cooling, pleasant and just feels like you’re at the beach. Makani’s roots lie in Hawaiian culture and tradition meaning ‘wind’ or ‘breeze’ in Hawaiian. The term is often associated with the power and freedom of the wind as well as the soft, relaxing, and soothing qualities the breeze presents. Makani to us flows perfectly with the flavors of this easy drinking coffee. In addition, Makani in Polynesian cultures signifies voyaging. So whether you have voyaged to us or want to pour an amazing cup of coffee and dream of your next voyage, Makani is absolutely for you.
About The Coffee
Colombia has been known more for many things throughout time, some good, many bad. One thing for sure is that Colombia is well known for growing amazing specialty coffee. Unfortunately 80% of the world’s coffee farmers live below the poverty line and current prices paid to farmers by most exporters do not meet farmers’ livelihood needs. This coffee, however, was purchased using our exporter’s code of ethics program ‘Living Income Pricing’ benchmark which ensures that coffee producers were paid a fair, sustainable wage. We’re not passing this on but rather supporting efforts to do good world-wide. By purchasing this coffee you’re helping us to interrupt poverty among coffee farmers by paying a price that closes the living income gap.
